Dear students and teachers – participants of the fifth YPAC in Rosenheim

Now, after the fourth successful YPAC in Meran/o, Rosenheim is the hosting city of the fifth Youth Parliament of the Alpine Convention in March 2010.

Rosenheim is situated some miles north of the Bavarian Alps where the rivers Inn and Mangfall merge. With about 60.000 inhabitants Rosenheim ranges among the typical medium-sized communities of Southern Bavaria. Many of them, including Rosenheim, have been influenced by their historical connection with Italy and have therefore been characterized by a vivid Italian style. This connection dates back to the Roman and Celtic Ages and Rosenheim had its special importance as an important traffic junction in the time of the Middle Ages, when the river Inn was used to transport salt and other goods on ships.

Today Rosenheim is an economic, cultural and social centre for the surrounding region. It’s a town where people meet to go shopping or to spend time in a café. As it is not far from the mountains and beautiful lakes like the Chiemsee, it is a popular centre of free time activities. Italy and Austria can be reached quickly from here, too. Rosenheim is renowned for its academy of wood engineering as well.

In 2010 Rosenheim will be dominated by the Bavarian Gardening Exhibition with an attractive programme for visitors. The rivers and their water as a resource and leisure option will be the main focus of this event titled “Innspiration”.

We are very proud that our school was chosen for the organization of the fifth YPAC meeting. We know that organising such an event demands a lot of work and that it will be challenging to prepare all the activities for over 70 participants of the meeting. We will do our best to offer all the participants good conditions for creative and successful work and we are confident that we will prove a reliable partner.

Teachers and students of the Karolinen-Gymnasium Rosenheim will give you a warm welcome.

See you in Rosenheim from 9th to 12th March 2010!

The organization team
